The holder-issuer-verifier model in Gankpo.

The model distinguishes the organisation that issues, the person or entity that holds, and the service that verifies. This separation makes responsibilities and decisions explicit.

Issuer

The issuer defines the credential, controls issuance conditions and signs the data for which it is authoritative. Gankpo Issuer provides a technology capability; it does not replace the organisation's authority.

Holder

The holder receives and stores the credential in Wallet, then decides whether to present it in response to an understandable request.

Verifier

The verifier checks the evidence, issuer, integrity and available status information before applying its own decision rule.
